This video is a part of the larger Russian Red project that the artist
has been working on for the past several years. The author plays with
the stereotypes and archetypes that are thought to be the signifiers of
a collective Russian consciousness. Traditionally, birch symbolizes the
Russian soul, the colour red - beauty, love and blood but is also a symbol
of the Russian Revolution for the whole world. The artist treats these
images a bit fervently but is free from idiotic earnestness.
