Factory of Founded Clothes

Factory of Founded Clothes (Gluklya (Natalya Pershina-Yakimanskaya) & Zaplya (Olga Egorova)). Triumph of Fragility, 2002, DV, 2 min 57 sec

The cadets of the St. Petersburg Naval School are seen marching through historical St. Petersburg, carrying virgin white dresses in their out-stretched arms. Glukya and Zaplia, collaborating under the label FFC (Factory of Founded Clothes), address the problem of man's vulnerability in contemporary society. Adolescence and femininity - are constant themes in their work, which declares that one must be brave, even fearless, to exist in the contemporary world, holding onto the relics of one's fragility and bearing them as long as the strength remains. The amount of aggression depicted in the video is presented as being indispensable for contemporary man's survival.
